Eclectic Elegance: A Statement Interior by Shelly Ganslaw Home
Blending Vintage and Modern: A Visionary Design
Interior design is more than just arranging furniture. It’s about storytelling. This captivating moodboard is a testament to how bold creativity and eclectic elements can merge to form a visually compelling space. From the mix of textures and vintage pieces to the striking patterns and surrealist touches, this space challenges conventional aesthetics.
Key Design Elements in This Composition
1. Vintage Meets Contemporary. At the heart of this design is a classic wooden console table, exuding timeless sophistication with its warm wood tones and leather top. Paired with a modern, high-gloss lamp and an abstract black art piece, the space perfectly balances old-world charm with contemporary flair.
2. Bold, Geometric Patterns. The wallpaper and rug play with geometric symmetry, creating a dynamic backdrop. The intricate patterns, reminiscent of Art Deco influences, contrast against the organic textures of the wooden furniture, making the space feel both structured and fluid.
3. Surrealist Touches for Artistic Depth. Perhaps the most striking element is the unexpected layering of objects vintage camera, a model airplane emerging from the artwork, and an oversized lamp that seems to defy proportion. These surrealist influences add a sense of intrigue, encouraging the viewer to engage with the space in a more imaginative way.
4. Moody, Luxe Color Palette. The palette consists of earthy browns, muted golds, deep blacks, and soft neutrals. This sophisticated mix creates an inviting yet dramatic atmosphere, making the space feel curated and intentional.
How to Recreate This Look in Your Home
1. Incorporate Statement Art. Choose a bold, textural piece like the black-on-black artwork featured here to serve as a conversation starter.
2. Mix Vintage and Modern Decor. Pair antique furniture with sleek, contemporary lighting to achieve a layered, high-end look.
3. Experiment with Unexpected Elements. Add whimsical, surrealist touches like a floating object, oversized accessories, or unusual pairings to inject personality into your space.
4. Layer Patterns and Textures. Geometric rugs, intricate wallpaper, and smooth surfaces work together to create depth and contrast.
Final Thoughts: The Art of Timeless Living
This Moodboard is a masterclass in juxtaposition, combining vintage elegance with avant-garde creativity. Through thoughtfully curating pieces that contrast yet complement one another, you can craft a home that feels both timeless and modern.

Summer Dreaming (…and scheming)
I’m digging my heels in as the end of the summer is fast approaching . Inspired by this JELLY FISH BLOOM in coral and turquoise wallpaper from Thibaut, I curated a small collection of items to keep the summer dreaming going long past August.

While I adore our home, I can’t stop thinking that adding a pool would be the icing on the cake and, of course, along with dreaming up a pool, I have already designed the perfect pool house bathroom. This Thibaut wallpaper is the epitome of chic and whimsical, and the perfect backdrop for the simple design of this mirror and vanity, both from Oomph. If you aren’t familiar with Oomph, let me introduce you…their products are available in a wide variety of colors, and can also be customized to any color making them an ideal option for many projects. Last but certainly not least, these fantastic Serena and Lily sconces are absolutely to die for!

Until my pool comes to frution, I’ll continue to pack up my kids to swim elsewhere. While the items in this collection aren't revolutionary, they are reliable favorites.
The LL Bean Boat and Tote bag is my go-to choice for the pool, beach, or any outing. Its simple design and generous capacity make it perfect for carrying a family's worth of towels, and its durability ensures it lasts year after year.
I prefer drinking from glass bottles, and the silicone cover on this one helps it withstand inevitable drops.
Sunscreen is always in my bag, even though I'm not the best at applying it regularly.
Now that my kids are old enough to play with friends in the water, I finally have time to indulge in a good beach read.
